Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CAUSALLY VERIFIED ENGINEERING ASSET MONITORING AND PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE The present invention disclosed herein relates to a causal verification system and methodology of engineering asset monitoring and predictive maintenance. Multimodal operation data of the interconnected engineering assets are analyzed using artificial intelligence/machine learning for the purpose of detecting a degradation situation. The relationship between the engineering assets in terms of physical connection, operational connection, materials flow, energy flow, and control connections between the engineering assets are represented in an asset dependency graph. When degradation is detected, the hypotheses corresponding to locally originated and propagated faults are created. The responses of each of the hypotheses to reversible diagnostic interventions are predicted and an intervention is selected based on the hypothesis separation and operational constraints. This intervention is applied temporarily, and the response of the assets is analyzed against the predicted response signatures in order to verify the fault cause and identify the fault originating asset. Maintenance requirement along with remaining useful life is obtained based on the verification of the cause. Fig:3
