Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CAUSALLY VERIFIED ADAPTIVE WOUND TREATMENT USING SENSOR-INTEGRATED RESPONSIVE DRESSINGS The present invention is directed to a system and method for causally-verified adaptive treatment of wounds through a sensor-enabled intelligent wound dressing. The intelligent wound dressing contains spatially addressable wound-interacting microzones that have matching sensing elements and selectively activatable treatment elements. Wound condition data collected from the microzones is correlated in a spatial manner to provide a wound condition map and to select a candidate condition. Prior to activating the treatment, further information is collected by repeating the test, changing the sensing modality, altering the sensing conditions, selecting a reference microzone, or applying a perturbation to verify a genuine wound condition and to rule out any effects arising from the sensors, dressing, environment, or cross-microzones effects. Once verified, a specific treatment element is activated in a local fashion under tissue safety limitations. Treatment data is correlated with an expected response pattern to regulate future dosage, duration, treatment modalities, or spatial extent of treatment. A history of wounds is selectively updated with verified wound conditions. Fig: 3
