MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631072345 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Patna on June 10, 2026, for System And Method For Cascaded Imc-Based Control Of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.

Inventors include Savarn, Anurag; Verma, Vimlesh; and Anwar, Md. Nishat.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A system and method for cascaded IMC-based control of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The system comprises a cascaded Internal Model Controller (IMC) architecture configured to perform speed and current control using a mathematical motor model (105) and actual motor feedback for generating motor actuation commands. The system further includes speed and current control modules (206) utilizing the IMC controller for independent torque and stable and robust motor operation. A conversion and modulation module for generating inverter switching commands. A Sliding Mode Disturbance Observer (SMDO) (212) is configured to estimate internal and external disturbances and feed forward disturbance compensation into the control architecture for improved disturbance rejection. Further, the SMDO (212) incorporates a decoupling component for reducing chattering and unwanted oscillations during disturbance estimation, thereby enabling accurate, stable, and disturbance-resistant PMSM drive operation under varying operating conditions.
