MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541086555 A) filed by Srinivasan M on September 11, 2025, for System And Method For Capturing And Reproducing Scent Profiles.

Inventor includes Srinivasan M.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system (100) and method for capturing and reproducing olfactory information, useful across fragrance manufacturing, automotive, multimedia integration, personalized scent reproduction, automated perfume business cycles, recreation centers, and medical aromatherapy applications. The system (100) includes a smell recording module comprising a gas sensor module (102) having an array of gas sensors configured to capture volatile compounds from an ambient sample, and an inbuilt semiconductor-based heating profile configurator having a duty cycle adjustment. A microcontroller module (104) digitizes electrical signals received from the gas sensor module (102) into a scent configuration file (116) representing scent resistance or retention values, the configuration file (116) being analyzed using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, including a multilayer perceptron and genetic algorithms, to predict scent combinations and optimize ingredient proportions. The system (100) further includes a smell playback module (150) comprising a scent data player (154) configured to decode the configuration file (116) and reconstitute the captured scent profile by correlating an encoded ingredient list with an available inventory of fragrance components, via a diffusion unit (164).
