MUMBAI, India, June 19 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411088234 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on November 14, 2024, for System And Method For Blockchain-Based Root Cause Analysis Of Faults In A Vehicle.

Inventors include Kashmira Kulkarni; and Pramod Muralimohan.

The application for the patent was published on June 05, 2026, under issue no. 23/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (106) and method (300) for blockchain-based root cause analysis of faults in a vehicle (102). The system (106), in response to detection of faults, receives one or more DTCs, time series data and metadata associated with the faults from an electronic control unit (104). The system (106) generates one or more blocks (110) based on the received DTCs, the time series data and the metadata. The blocks (110) are sequentially added to a blockchain ledger (116), where the blocks (110) are validated to form a (block)chain. The system (106) receives an update signal configured to resolve a root cause of the faults. The update signal is determined based on a root cause analysis of the chain formed by the validated blocks (110) in the blockchain ledger (116).
