Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an autonomous forest fire detection system (100) and method. A plurality of self-powered environmental sensing nodes (102), each powered by an ambient-energy-harvesting power- management subsystem (104), sense fireindicative parameters, and an anomaly-detection and threshold- comparator unit (214) generates a first-stage fire-suspicion event upon a threshold crossing. The event is conveyed over a communication subsystem (106) and a non-terrestrial network segment (108) to a remote monitoring and response platform (116), which dispatches an unmanned aerial vehicle surveillance unit (110). A high-resolution camera (304) and a thermal imaging sensor (306) acquire imagery, and an edge artificial- intelligence processing module (112) executes a deep-learning detector to perform a second-stage fire verification that gates a response subsystem (114). The imagery is conveyed over the non-terrestrial network segment (108) to the platform (116). FIG. 1.
