Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED INTRAVENOUS FLUID MONITORING The present invention discloses an automated intravenous drip monitoring and control system (100) designed to provide an active clinical safety through a dual-unit architecture. The system utilizes a sensing subsystem for volume tracking, a slotted IR-optocoupler module (114) for real-time droplet flow-rate monitoring, and a high-efficiency air-bubble detector (112) based on refractive index modulation of a laser-LDR pair. The system includes an automated hardware self-diagnostic protocol configured to verify sensor reliability prior to clinical use. Upon detection of a hazard condition, the system employs an occlusion assembly (124) configured to physically occlude an intravenous tube (136). Centralized network tracking is maintained through a standalone communication unit (104) to collect, queue, and manage incoming hazard data from multiple bedside units. The system (100) further incorporates a linked-reset safety protocol that ensures physical assessment of the patient and reducing the likelihood of remote clearance of hazard notifications without patient evaluation.
