MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611104888 A) filed by Panipat Institute Of Engineering And Technology Piet on August 31, 2026, for System And Method For Automated Farm-Level Carbon Sequestration Assessment And Carbon Credit Determination.
Inventors include Prof. Dr. Poonam Panwar; and Prof. Dr. Satish Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for automated farm-level carbon sequestration assessment and carbon-credit determination. A data-acquisition module acquires crop, soil, environmental, farm-management and geospatial data from field sensors, positioning devices, remote-sensing sources, agricultural systems and user devices. A preprocessing and validation module processes the acquired data before a carbon-sequestration estimation engine determines above-ground biomass carbon, below-ground biomass carbon and soil organic carbon. A greenhouse-gas emission assessment engine determines emissions associated with agricultural operations, and a net-carbon-balance module determines net carbon sequestration based on stored carbon and determined emissions. A carbon-credit computation module derives corresponding carbon-credit information according to a selected carbon-accounting methodology. Geospatial analytics, predictive machine-learning processing, continuous monitoring and distributed-ledger verification may additionally be provided. The system enables farm-specific, updateable and traceable carbon assessment through an integrated computing and field-data-acquisition architecture. Accompanied Drawing [FIG. 1]
