MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621084412 A) filed by Visvesvaraya National Institute Of Technology Vnit on July 09, 2026, for System And Method For Anomaly Detection In Vehicular Communication Networks.
Inventors include Gautam, Prashant Kumar; and Dr. Ankit Ashokrao Bhurane.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: An anomaly detection system (100) for an in-vehicle communication network includes a bus interface circuit (104) configured to connect to vehicle internal communication bus (102) and to receive messages therefrom, a transceiver (106) configured to convert differential signals to logic level signals, bus controller chip (108) coupled to the transceiver (106) and configured to parse received messages, a single-board computer (110) coupled to the bus controller chip (108) via serial peripheral bus and configured to execute an inference pipeline, and a sliding window buffer (112) configured to maintain a window of consecutive messages. The inference pipeline includes a dual-branch architecture having an identifier prediction channel (114) with a token embedding table (116), a selective state-space scanner (118), and a prediction head (120), and a payload reconstruction channel (122) with a payload byte encoder (124), a payload byte decoder (126), and a reconstruction error scorer (128). Outputs from both channels are combined via feature vector addition (130) to produce a unified anomaly score, and a threshold comparator (132) evaluates the unified anomaly score against a calibration threshold to generate an anomaly detection output.
