Abstract: A hybrid casting method and system for processing an input part to receive a final cast, the method includes applying an additive casting process on a build area of the input cast, which includes constructing an interfacing mold region in the build area at least around an interfacing region between the build area of the input cast and the additive cast portion, heating the interfacing region and generating a melt zone in the interfacing region, and optionally providing at least one cast property modifying powder to the interfacing region prior to applying the additive casting process.
