Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE DELAY-DOPPLER SYNCHRONIZATION AND PREDICTIVE DOPPLER-RESILIENT OFDM MODEM Disclosed is a high-mobility orthogonal frequency division multiplexing modem system (100) comprising a transmitter subsystem (110) that embeds segmented orthogonal cover-coded pilots at frame boundaries and a receiver subsystem (200) equipped with a hierarchical receiver synchronization block (220), a delay-Doppler sensing engine (230), a Kalman-filter based delay-Doppler tap tracker (240) with covariance manager (246), a Doppler classification unit (250), an adaptive equalization module (260) and a predictive channel evolution unit (270). The synchronization block (220) performs multi-resolution coarse and fine delay- Doppler acquisition. The tap tracker (240) recursively estimates state-space evolution of significant delay-Doppler taps and outputs a reliability metric. The mode selector (262) arbitrates among low, medium and high mobility equalizers based on the mobility mode and said reliability metric. A neural predictor (272) extrapolates delay-Doppler basis coefficients gated by the reliability metric for proactive equalization, yielding improved spectral efficiency in doubly-selective channels.
