Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Adaptive Data Compression in IoT Communication Networks The present disclosure relates to a system and method of adaptive data compression in IoT communication networks. The system characterises the sensor data in terms of volatility, entropy, temporal correlation, repetition and criticality and generates predicted sensor values with prediction confidence. A dynamic reconstruction-error budget defines a permissible reconstruction deviation, while an energy estimation module defines an energy crossover between compression processing and wireless transmission. An adaptive compression controller selectively controls compression mode, compression intensity and prediction horizon . A compression-debt controller accumulates reconstruction deviation across successive transmissions, and selectively triggers generation of a self-synchronizing reconstruction anchor packet. A recovery-aware packetization module dynamically adapts recovery information depending on packet-loss and communication-link conditions. The receiving gateway reconstructs the sensor data and feeds it back to update the next compression parameters. Thus the system controls reconstruction error, avoids prediction drift and improves reliable sensor-data transmission, while reducing communication and processing energy, transmitted data volume and retransmissions.
