Abstract: ABSTRACT [0057] A system (100) and method for adaptive control of a root-zone microenvironment for crop-specific water and nutrient delivery are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a memory (102) storing crop-specific information indicative of water and nutrient requirements and one or more processors (106). The processors (106) implement a root-zone monitoring module (108) configured to receive root-zone data indicative of one or more conditions of a root-zone microenvironment, and a crop requirement determination module (110) configured to determine a target root-zone condition based on the crop-specific information. An adaptive control module (112) determines a deviation between the indicated root-zone conditions and the target root-zone condition and determines, based on the deviation, a water delivery parameter and a nutrient delivery parameter. A delivery control module (114) controls delivery of water and one or more nutrients according to the determined parameters to modify the root-zone microenvironment toward the target root-zone condition.
