Abstract: ABSTRACT This disclosure relates to system and method for actuating a footstep assembly (302) of a vehicle (101) to facilitate an ergonomic access of a passenger. The system and method may include determining an opening status of a vehicle door (306) of the vehicle (101) based on one or more door opening parameters. The opening status is indicative of whether the vehicle door (306) is closed, the vehicle door (306) is opened from outside of the vehicle (101), or the vehicle door (306) is opened from inside of the vehicle (101). The method may further include actuating based on the opening status, one or more stepper motors to position the footstep assembly (302) of the vehicle (101) between a stowed position and the open position.
