Abstract: A system and method are provided for a tuned slosh damper for damping movement of a structure that includes a baffle. The system includes an enclosure with a floor and side walls. The enclosure contains a liquid and a flat rectangular baffle that is situated within the liquid parallel to the floor. The method includes providing an enclosure with a floor and side walls. The enclosure contains a liquid for damping the movement of the structure by producing a resonant wave to counter the movement of the structure. The method further includes providing a baffle in the enclosure within the liquid and parallel to the floor. The baffle reduces secondary wave motion of the liquid without significantly reducing the wave energy of the tuned slosh damper.
