Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an automated system (100) and method (200) for sorting agricultural products, such as tomatoes, based on appearance and size. The system integrates an inclined conveyor (104) with vertical comb-shaped slits (106), a roller conveyor (108) with a separation unit, a swing bucket conveyor (114) featuring solenoid valve-controlled units (114-2) and electromechanically controlled flaps (114-3), an image processing-based decision support unit (301), a swing bucket conveyor cabinet (401) with a camera (401-1), an inclined bin (500A), and a size-based sorting unit (500B) comprising inclined rods (501) with progressively increasing gaps. The system employs advanced imaging technology to detect surface defects and analyze parameters like color while the rod setup performs size-based categorization. Its modular design ensures scalability for varying capacities. The solution minimizes human intervention, reduces labor-intensive tasks, and provides accurate, consistent sorting and grading for improved operational efficiency.
