Inventors include Dr Vishwaraj B Manur; Praveena K S; Bhargavi K; Kushi G M; Panchami K. C; Nishanth K S; and Nihal Datta K. P.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: An infusion monitoring system (100) for a gravity infusion set has a drop sensing unit (200) at the drip chamber (104), a site sensing assembly (350) worn at the insertion site (112), and a separately located processing node (304). The drop sensing unit sends drop-event timing data (514), and the site sensing assembly supplies swelling data (520), preferably tissue contact pressure, and optionally skin temperature data (522). The processing node determines when drop timing departs from a flow reference and when swelling deviates beyond a tolerance, and assigns classified states (524), at least one of which combines both changes when they occur together or begin within one timing window. Preferably, an optical drop sensing unit reports an optical quality value, such as a detector baseline value (518), and drop- dependent states are output only when the drop data has passed a fault check, so equipment faults are reported separately.
