MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641061703 A) filed by Kcg College Of Technology on May 15, 2026, for Synthesis Of Carbon Dot Containing Phase Change Material And Study For Thermal Energy Storage.

Abstract: Phase change materials (PCMs) have been widely used for thermal energy harvesting, storage, and management; however, their poor electrical and thermal conductivity, form instability, arid lack of photoabsorbance frequently limit their application. In order to overcome these obstacles, a phase change composite was created by dispersing different weight percentages of carbon dots (CDs) ( 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%) into Paraffin Wax (PW), the basic PCM. For one weight percent carbon dot, the CD dispersed PW composite demonstrated an improved heat conductivity of 70%, Additionally, thermogravimetric study revealed that all composites had belter thermal stability than PW. To investigate its properties for different applications, the composite was moulded into samples and examined using SEM, TGA, and DSC. The requirements for their extensive use in thermal energy harvesting, storage, and thennal management of electronics, buildings, etc. are met by their simple fabrication process, wide variety of applications with varying CD wt percentages, and their effective thermal properties.
