Patel; and Uka Tarsadia University on May 21, 2026, for Synthesis And Application Of Coumarin-Thiazole- Hybrid As Dual Responsive Chromogenic Sensors For Ph And Solvatochromic Analysis.

Abstract: The present invention is based on the heterocyclic chromophoric system consisting of SK-NO-NH. The system shows remarkable halochromic properties, as the colour of the compound is rapidly changed with the change in pH levels. The halochromic effect is due to the reversible protonation and deprotonation equilibrium taking place in acidic and basic media. The compound exhibits a bathochromic shift in an alkaline medium and thus a darker colour, while it shows a hypsochromic shift in an acidic medium and thus a lighter colour. The colour changes are unique and reversible and provide clear visual differentiation over a wide pH range. The molecule can thus be used as a chemical probe for the measurement of pH in different contexts. The technology is applicable in solution and solid-state formats, including indicator strips. The method is fast, simple and visually observable and does not require sophisticated equipment and can be used to monitor and study the pH changes effectively.
