MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110913 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Pharmacy Institute on September 16, 2026, for Synergistic Multiparticulate Dual-Release Diclofenac Dosage Form Comprising Four Functionally Distinct Micro-Pellets.
Inventors include Vimal Datt; and Shrishti Tripathi.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a synergistic multiparticulate dual-release diclofenac dosage form comprising four functionally distinct micro-pellet populations combined at a fixed weight ratio within a single capsule shell. The four populations comprise an uncoated immediate-release population IR-P1, an anionic-methacrylate enteric-release population ER-P2, an early-pulse sustained-release population SR-P3a coated with a Eudragit RS PO / RL PO 3:1 blend, and a pore-former-modulated late-pulse sustained-release population SR-P3b coated with a 4:1 blend containing hydroxypropyl cellulose. The four populations are preferably combined in a weight ratio of approximately 15 : 45 : 20 : 20 with a total diclofenac sodium load of 25 to 75 milligrams per capsule. The combined formulation exhibits a supra-additive analgesic duration of approximately 14 hours, being over 2.5-fold greater than the arithmetic additive prediction, and a supra-additive 65-percent reduction of peak- related gastric mucosal adverse events in a validated Beagle model, neither of which is obtainable by any subset of the four populations or by any additive combination thereof.
