MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083888 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on July 08, 2026, for Synergistic Microbial Consortium For Direct Blue Decolorization In Presence Of Hexavalent Chromium.

Inventors include Dr Shilpa Deshpande Kaistha; Dr Vineet Kumar; and Sanjay Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a synergistic microbial consortium for decolorization of Direct Blue 6 in presence of hexavalent chromium. The synergistic microbial consortium comprises isolated viable cells of Klebsiella pneumoniae SK1, isolated viable cells of Bacillus cereus SK2, isolated viable cells of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia SK3, and isolated viable cells of Enterococcus faecalis AD4. SK1, SK2, SK3 and AD4 are present together as a mixed microbial culture in an aqueous dye-treatment environment comprising Direct Blue 6 and hexavalent chromium. The mixed microbial culture provides consortium-level decolorization of Direct Blue 6 under hexavalent chromium stress at a decolorization level greater than each of SK1, SK2, SK3 and AD4 used separately under corresponding treatment conditions.
