The patch is prepared by a solvent-casting technique and exhibits smooth, flexible and transparent film characteristics, skin-compatible surface pH, adequate folding endurance, uniform drug content and sustained release of the essential oils over twenty-four hours. The optimised formulation demonstrates synergistic broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans and produces accelerated wound contraction in excision wound models, providing a cost- effective herbal therapeutic system for management of various dermal disorders with improved patient compliance.
