Abstract: ABSTRACT: The present invention relates to a synergistic antidiabetic composition comprising an extract of Bacopa monnieri in combination with Metformin for the effective management of diabetes mellitus. The invention provides a novel herb-drug therapeutic approach that enhances glycemic control through complementary mechanisms, including improved insulin sensitivity, reduced hepatic glucose production, and attenuation of oxidative stress. The composition is evaluated using a streptozotocin-induced diabetes model in Sprague Dawley rat, demonstrating significant . reduction in blood glucose levels, improved glucose tolerance, and favorable modulation of biochemical and oxidative stress parameters. The combination further exhibits protective effects on pancreatic p-cells. Additionally, the invention enables dose reduction of metformin, thereby minimizing associated adverse effects. The composition can be formulated into various oral dosage forms and offers a safe, effective, and improved strategy for diabetes management
