Abstract: A system and method for Synchronous Multivariable Adaptive Real-Time Damping (SMART-D) are disclosed to mitigate complex, multi-frequency oscillations in dynamic electromechanical or structural systems. The system comprises a multichannel sensor network configured to capture real-time, multi-axis dynamic state variables, a centralized synchronous processing core, and a plurality of distributed adaptive actuators. The synchronous processing core samples the multi-axis dynamic state variables simultaneously across all channels to eliminate phase lag, feeding the synchronized data into a multivariable adaptive control algorithm. This control algorithm dynamically estimates system parameters, decouples cross-axis modal interactions, and calculates optimal damping control signals in real time. The calculated control signals are concurrently dispatched to the distributed adaptive actuators, which apply counter-oscillatory forces to actively suppress instabilities. By continuously adapting control parameters to variations in system load and operating conditions, the system achieves rapid, robust stabilization across highly coupled, non-linear variables..
