Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first primary synchronization signal (PSS) during a first PSS occasion. The UE may receive a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) or a wake up signal (WUS) during one of a set of monitoring occasions between the first PSS and a second PSS. Consecutive monitoring occasions of the set of monitoring occasions may be separated in time by a first time gap, and each monitoring occasion of the set of monitoring occasions may be associated with a different cell. The UE may transmit, in response to the wake up signal, a request for system information via a resource indicated by the wake up signal. The UE may receive a system information block (SIB) in response to the request.
