MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112491 A) filed by Andhra University on September 18, 2026, for Switched Reluctance Motor With Flux Barrier Geometry For Electric Propulsion Applications.

Inventors include Boyanasetti Venkata Sai Thrinath; Dr. B. Amarendra Reddy; and Dr. Edwin Vijay Kumar D.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a switched reluctance hub motor (100) for electric propulsion applications. The motor (100) comprises a stator assembly (102) mounted on a shaft (104) comprises a laminated stator core (106), plurality of stator poles (108), slot regions (110), and plurality of concentrated windings (111) for generating magnetic flux. A rotor assembly (112) comprises a laminated rotor core (114), plurality of rotor poles (116), and pole tips (118) arrangesd in a 12/8 pole configuration. The rotor core (114) comprises flux barrier structures (122) and corresponding flux barrier cavities (124) for controlling magnetic flux distribution. Sequential energization of the windings (111) produces variable reluctance torque. The motor (100) is free from permanent magnets and reduces torque ripple and electromagnetic force harmonics while improving torque output and operational stability for electric propulsion applications.
