MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641074459 A) filed by Mepco Schlenk Engineering College on June 16, 2026, for Switchable Linear And Non-Linear Antenna Array System For Radiation Pattern Reconfiguration In Uav Communications.

Inventor includes Dr. S. Anand.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a switchable antenna array system for radiation pattern reconfiguration in an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The system comprises a plurality of antenna elements interconnected through a plurality of PIN diode switching elements and controlled by a controller configured to selectively establish electrical connections among the antenna elements. The controller dynamically reconfigures the antenna array between linear and non-linear array configurations to generate different: radiation patterns. The linear array configuration provides increased directivity and gain for communication applications, while the non-linear array configuration provides enhanced angular coverage for surveillance applications. The system further supports a hybrid tracking mode combining characteristics of the linear and non-linear configurations. The proposed antenna architecture enables electronic radiation- pattern reconfiguration without mechanical movement, thereby providing adaptive communication, surveillance, and tracking capabilities for UAV operations.
