Abstract: The current invention concerns a computerized system designed for ride sharing that facilitates ride management using a database-enabled back-end system. Ride management, coordination between user and driver at real time basis, and transaction handling via an integrated electronic wallet are some features incorporated in this system. A state machine-based approach is adopted to facilitate the management of ride progression to maintain synchronization between ride status, available drivers, and financial transactions. In addition to this, location-based ride matching is performed in order to pair nearby drivers with users. Shared rides can be arranged in cases where people have similar destination points like students or daily commuters.
