MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631097083 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Patna on August 11, 2026, for Sustainable Stabilized Pavement Construction Composition.
Inventors include Sinha, Sanjeev; and Sen, Sameer.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: An environmentally sustainable stabilized pavement construction composition (100) comprising Fine Sand, Brick Dust, and Ordinary Portland Cement, utilizing Fine Sand as the primary granular material and recycled Brick Dust, obtained from crushed fired clay bricks, in an optimized ratio of approximately 1:1.6 to develop a stable granular matrix. The incorporation of OPC-43 Grade Cement in a preferred range of 4 wt.% to 8 wt.% promotes hydration reactions, forming cementitious products such as Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C-S-H), Ettringite, and Calcium Hydroxide that enhance particle bonding, reduce porosity, and improve structural stability. The composition exhibits improved mechanical performance, including enhanced compressive strength, bearing capacity, tensile strength, and flexural strength, along with excellent durability against environmental exposure. The component is suitable for pavement subgrade, subbase, and base layers, enabling sustainable utilization of brick waste and allowing incorporation of additional stabilizing materials such as Terrasil, Zycobond, fly ash, and plastic waste.
