Abstract: ABSTRACT CEMENT CONCRETE COMPOSITION WITH HOLLOW WASTE TYRE RUBBER AND STEEL SLAG A cement concrete composition (100) and a method (200) for manufacturing the same are disclosed for construction of rigid pavements and structural concrete members. The composition (100) comprises cement (102), natural coarse aggregates (104), natural fine aggregates (106), pre-treated hollow waste tyre rubber (HWTR) aggregates (108) partially replacing the natural coarse aggregates, steel slag particles (110) partially replacing the natural fine aggregates, an optional chemical admixture (114), and water (116). The HWTR aggregates are incorporated in an amount of about 3 wt.% to 7 wt.% of the total coarse aggregate, while the steel slag particles are incorporated in an amount of about 8 wt.% to 15 wt.% of the total fine aggregate. The treated HWTR aggregates and steel slag particles cooperatively interact with a hydrated cement matrix to form an interlocked composite concrete matrix exhibiting improved interfacial bonding, crack resistance, energy absorption, durability, and reduced unit weight.
