MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071720 A) filed by Devadeth S; Dr. Fazil A; and Dr. Saibi R on June 09, 2026, for Sustainable Bio-Nano Composite For Fire Extinguishing.

Inventors include Devadeth S; Dr. Fazil A; and Dr. Saibi R.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sustainable bio-nano composite fire extinguishing composition comprising ABC dry chemical powder, magnesium hydroxide nanoparticles, silicon dioxide nanoparticles, sodium alginate, and chitosan. The composition utilizes combined thermal absorption, radical scavenging, oxygen dilution, and barrier formation mechanisms for enhanced fire suppression. Magnesium hydroxide nanoparticles absorb heat through endothermic decomposition and release water vapor capable of reducing flame temperature. Silicon dioxide nanoparticles improve dispersion and combustion radical adsorption. Sodium alginate and chitosan generate thermally stable carbonaceous barriers that restrict heat transfer and oxygen diffusion. The composition demonstrates reduced extinguishing time, lower powder consumption, improved thermal stability, decreased particulate emissions, and enhanced environmental compatibility compared with conventional fire extinguishing powders. The invention provides an efficient and sustainable fire suppression solution suitable for industrial, commercial, transportation, and residential fire protection applications.
