Abstract: ABSTRACT Surface-Modified Abrasive Grains with Enhanced Projectability, Capillarity, and Friability The present invention introduces a novel surface modification technique for alumina-zirconia abrasive grains, utilizing a dual-layer coating system to enhance performance in abrasive applications. The first coating layer comprises silane, which improves adhesion for subsequent layers. The second layer, a mixture of sodium silicate and graphene, facilitates the formation of nano-sized amorphous silica particles and needle-like silica structures, significantly enhancing electrostatic projectability, capillarity, and friability. This innovative approach improves thermal conductivity and prevents grain agglomeration, resulting in a more uniform application and extended tool life. The process operates at low temperatures, reducing energy consumption and minimizing thermal stress. Adaptable to various grain types and sizes, the present invention is suitable for diverse industrial applications, including metalworking, woodworking, and composite material processing, offering a versatile and efficient solution to the limitations of traditional abrasive grains.
