The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sugar-free chewable medicated chocolate formulation comprising Enalapril maleate for hypertension management in elderly patients. The formulation comprises Enalapril maleate, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, lecithin, and monk fruit powder, wherein the active drug is uniformly dispersed within a cocoa butter-based chocolate matrix. Monk fruit powder acts as a natural high-intensity, zero-calorie sweetener and assists in masking the bitter taste of Enalapril maleate without adding sucrose, thereby making the formulation suitable for diabetic hypertensive patients. The chocolate matrix provides a palatable, chewable, water-free oral dosage form for geriatric patients having dysphagia, pill fatigue, or poor compliance with conventional tablets. The formulation may be prepared by melt-molding below 70°C, followed by molding, setting, and refrigeration. The prepared medicated chocolates exhibit acceptable hardness, weight uniformity, drug content, dissolution, and stability. The invention provides a patient- friendly antihypertensive dosage form with improved adherence and accurate unit dosing. (Accompanied Figure No. 1-3)
