Abstract: A suction tip (1) is provided comprising a stem (2) and a ring-shaped section (4) mounted to the stem and in fluid communication with a suction port (3). The ring- shaped section (4) comprises a suction manifold (9) and a plurality of fluid inlets (7) arranged and configured to provide suction to an internal working area (8) of the ring-shaped section (4) and is configured to suction blood from the working area (8). The suction tip (1) is also configured with an outer wall (6) configured to press against tissue in use, and to create a barrier between any fluid outside of the ring-shaped section (4) and inside the ring-shaped section (4). The fluids are therefore separated and suction is only applied to the fluid within an area defined by the ring-shaped section (4). The suction manifold (9) comprises a ring-shaped gallery (9a) that extends within the ring-shaped section. A lower region of the ring-shaped gallery is open and configured to be closed off through contact with tissue or other material in use with the fluid inlets (7) directing suction to the working area (8).
