The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: SUBSTRATE-INDEPENDENT MIMO ANTENNA FOR VEHICULAR COMMUNICATION AND METHOD OF FABRICATION THEREOF Provided is a substrate-independent Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna for vehicular communication (100) and a method of fabrication (700) thereof. The antenna comprises a supporting surface (114) acting as a functional substrate having a top surface (102) and a bottom surface (116), a partial ground plane (118) disposed on the bottom surface (116), and four radiating antenna elements arranged in an orthogonal and symmetrical configuration on the top surface (102). Each radiating antenna element comprises a microstrip radiating patch fed by a microstrip feedline (108). A sun-shaped decoupling structure (120) formed in the partial ground plane (118) comprises a central stub and a plurality of radial strips extending at equal angular spacing for reducing inter-element coupling and improving isolation. The antenna is configured to operate over a millimetre-wave frequency range extending from 20 GHz to at least 60 GHz and is suitable for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) (214), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) (216), and cellular base station (212) communication applications.
