Abstract: The present invention relates to an autonomous direct current (DC) microgrid system for enhancing grid resilience, improving DC-link voltage stability, and ensuring reliable power delivery under varying renewable energy generation and dynamic load conditions. The system comprises a solar photovoltaic (PV) generation unit, a wind energy conversion system, and a wave energy conversion system integrated through a common DC-link for supplying electrical power to connected DC loads. A supercapacitor-based energy storage system (SC-ESS) is electrically coupled to the common DC-link through a bidirectional DC–DC converter configured for controlled charging and discharging of the supercapacitor during surplus and deficit renewable power conditions. A Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller (STSMC) continuously monitors the DC-link voltage, determines the voltage deviation from a predetermined reference value, and generates control signals for regulating the bidirectional DC–DC converter through a pulse-width modulation (PWM) unit. The coordinated operation of the renewable energy generation units, the supercapacitor- based energy storage system, the bidirectional DC–DC converter, and the STSMC maintains DC-link voltage stability, compensates for renewable power fluctuations and load disturbances, improves transient response, reduces voltage oscillations, and enhances the reliable operation of the autonomous DC microgrid. The invention is applicable to autonomous renewable energy systems, smart DC microgrids, remote electrification, industrial DC power systems, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
