Ltd. on January 23, 2025, for Strategic Sourcing And Selection Of Aspergillus Niger Strains Producing High-Yield Of Citric Acid.

Abstract: ABSTRACT STRATEGIC SOURCING AND SELECTION OF ASPERGILLUS NIGER STRAINS PRODUCING HIGH-YIELD OF CITRIC ACID Disclosed herein are fungal strains producing high yields of citric acid, the strains being Aspergillus niger strains, which were isolated from rotten fruits. Pure fungal cultures, about 80 cultures, were isolated from citrus-rich and citrus-free rotten fruits, identified as Aspergillus niger at the molecular level by ITS1-ITS4 DNA sequencing, and screened for their potential for citric acid production. The Aspergillus niger strains isolated from citrate-rich fruits like orange, fig, etc., were found to be high citric acid producers (53-81 mM) as compared to other strains isolated from low or no citric acid-containing fruits and also than the typed strains A. niger NCIM 565 (40±2 mM). The present invention establishes a reliable methodology to obtain high citric acid producing A. niger strains, and thereby offers a valuable tool for academic research and industrial applications. The method contributes to developing indigenous, efficient, and cost-effective citric acid production processes [
