MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621068952 A) filed by Dr. Vijayasri. K; Dr. Sandeep Kumar; and Dr. Anjali on June 02, 2026, for Steel Slag And Coconut Shell Bio-Geo Hybrid Composite For Thermally Stabilized Durable Solar Photovoltaic Panels.

Inventors include Dr. Vijayasri. K; Dr. Sandeep Kumar; and Dr. Anjali.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a bio-geo hybrid composite (200) for a solar photovoltaic panel (100), comprising a steel slag fraction (210) of thirty to sixty weight percent, a coconut shell biochar fraction (220) of ten to forty weight percent, and a binding agent (230) of five to twenty weight percent forming a continuous matrix. The steel slag fraction (210) provides thermal mass and structural strength while the porous coconut shell biochar fraction (220) provides insulation and carbon sequestration. When applied as a rear protective layer (130), thermal management coating (140) or structural member (150), the composite (200) reduces panel operating temperature by about eight to fifteen degrees Celsius, exhibits a compressive strength of forty-five to seventy-five megapascals, resists ultraviolet light and moisture, and confers a carbon-negative footprint. A method of preparing the composite by pyrolysis, dry-mixing, binder activation, application and curing is also disclosed.
