Abstract: Abstract People widely use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to manage inflammation and pain. Still, using them for a long time can cause serious side effects, such as irritation in the digestive tract, decreased blood flow in the mucosa, and the development of ulcers because they stop the production of prostaglandins. These drawbacks have led to an increased interest in herbal mixtures as a safer alternative with both anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic properties. We have formulated Mixed Herb Decoction (MHD) and demonstrated the antiinflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic effects on carrageenan-induced paw edema, xylene-iriduced ear edema, and ethanol-induced ulcers in female Wistar rats. Our findings reveal that administering MHD at a high dose of 300 mg/kg significantly reduced both paw edema and ear edema, as well as the formation of gastric ulcer lesions. Molecular evidence, like western blot analysis, shows that MHD controls Heme oxygenase-l, Bcl-2, Hsp70, and TIMP-l in the positive effects. This indicates that MHD possesses beneficial anti-inflammatory and anti- ulcerogenic properties. This molecular study paves the way for MHD as a potential natural alternative source to NSAIDs.
