Abstract: A staircase climbing/descending assistive device comprising, a pair of elongated platform 101 each vertically positioned lengthways side of a staircase, plurality of hydraulic rods 102 are configured beneath the platform 101 to provide support to the platform 101 over the staircase, an imaging unit 103 installed over the frame and integrated with a processor determines presence of a person at any ends of the staircase that needs to climb or descend from the staircase, a motorized sliding unit 104 installed over each of the platform 101 to provide translation to a U-shaped plate 105 configured with the sliding units 104 to position in proximity to the user, an extendable flap 106 configured with lateral sides of the plate 105 to extend in view of enclosing the user within the plate 105.
