Abstract: STACKING SEQUENCE OPTIMIZATION OF GLASS FIBER AND ONYX REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITES FOR ENHANCED STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE VIA ITERATIVE PLY ORIENTATION RECONFIGURATION The present invention relates to stacking sequence optimization of glass fiber and onyx reinforced polymer composite laminates for enhanced structural performance through iterative ply orientation reconfiguration. The invention utilizes a multi-objective optimization framework configured to minimize displacement, average stress, interlaminar shear stress, and failure index while maximizing stiffness, strength, durability, and fatigue life. Mechanical loading conditions, laminate thickness, and material properties are processed through an optimization engine that iteratively adjusts ply orientations and evaluates structural performance metrics. The optimized laminate comprises a balanced quasi-isotropic distribution of 0°, ±45°, and 90° plies to achieve uniform stiffness and improved load transfer. The optimization process evaluates interface-wise stresses and failure indices throughout the laminate thickness and converges toward a configuration exhibiting reduced displacement, stress concentrations, and failure initiation risks. The invention is applicable to aerospace, automotive, wind energy, and other structural composite applications.
