MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072269 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 10, 2026, for Stacked Ensemble Water Quality Index Estimation With Sensor Fault Tolerance.
Inventors include Shobha Rekh; and Vignesh A.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT STACKED ENSEMBLE WATER QUALITY INDEX ESTIMATION WITH SENSOR FAULT TOLERANCE A method for estimating a water quality index under sensor failure conditions comprises receiving, by a processor (100), sensor data from a plurality of sensors (110) deployed at a water body, wherein the sensor data comprises physicochemical parameters, and determining whether one or more physicochemical parameters are missing. The method comprises recovering missing physicochemical parameters through a prioritized cascade comprising spatial borrowing from a geo-adjacent sensor node (112), temporal fallback from a rolling buffer (122) when the geo-adjacent sensor node (112) is unavailable, and median imputation when the rolling buffer (122) is unavailable. The method comprises generating, by base learners (130), preliminary predictions based on a complete input vector comprising received and recovered physicochemical parameters, processing, by a neural meta-learner (140), the preliminary predictions to generate a final water quality index score, and outputting the final water quality index score.
