Abstract: The present invention relates to a stable multi-wheel motorized mobility and structural support arrangement for an assistive hospital bed configured to support and transport a patient while providing powered movement. The arrangement comprises a rigid structural frame, a patient-supporting platform, a plurality of wheels, DC geared motors, a battery power supply, a DC-DC buck converter and electrical interconnections between the power and motor-control components. The structural frame is formed using mild-steel square rods and provides mechanical support for the patient-supporting platform and associated components. A stainless-steel sheet is positioned over the structural frame to form the patient-supporting platform. The platform provides a rigid supporting surface for the patient while the structural frame distributes the applied load. A plurality of wheels is positioned at the lower portion of the frame to provide mobility. In the developed arrangement, four robot-type soft rubber wheels are provided. The wheels are coupled with DC geared motors to provide powered movement. The soft rubber wheel arrangement provides traction with the supporting surface and assists in reducing vibration during movement. The electrical power arrangement comprises a 12 V 30 Ah battery configured to supply power to the motor-driving arrangement. A DC-DC buck converter is provided to reduce the voltage supplied to the electronic controller. Electrical wires interconnect the battery, converter, motor-driver arrangement, controller and motor units. During operation, the structural frame supports the patient and distributes the load through the bed structure to the wheel arrangement. The powered wheels generate the required propulsion for movement, while the wheel arrangement provides distributed support to the bed. During movement over an inclined surface, the motorized wheel arrangement assists the attendant in transporting the patient while the rigid structure maintains the required mechanical support. The invention integrates structural support, four-wheel mobility, geared motor propulsion and onboard electrical power into a single assistive hospital-bed arrangement. The combination provides a mechanically supported and electrically powered platform suitable for controlled patient transportation and assisted movement in hospital environments.
