Abstract: The present invention discloses a sprayable polymer matrix formulation designated as C- NaturDerm-DM developed for topical wound management in hyperglycemic environments. The formulation comprises an aqueous leaf extract of Datura metel incorporated into a chitosan—alginate polyelectrolyte complex along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing and viscosity-modifying agents. The electrostatic interaction between chitosan and alginate results in formation of a structured polymeric network capable of sustained release of plant- derived bioactive compounds. The developed spray matrix demonstrates antioxidant activity, antimicrobial efficacy against wound-associated microorganisms, and cytocompatibility with mammalian skin cell lines under in vitro hyperglycemic conditions. The spray delivery system ensures uniform wound coverage and supports maintenance of a favorable moist microenvironment. The invention provides a stable and scalable therapeutic platform suitable for accelerated wound healing in diabetic settings.
