Abstract: The invention relates to spiral-wound gaskets for use in couplings in heat exchange equipment and pipelines and in equipment used in the oil and gas industry, the chemical industry and the thermal and nuclear energy industries, and in exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. A spiral-wound gasket comprises a sealing ring in the form of a wound spiral consisting of alternating layers of a profiled metal strip and a filler, wherein the filler is in the form of a strip of a three-layer laminate consisting of a layer of a reinforcing metal material with a non-metal sealing material adhered to each side thereof. The resulting spiral-wound gasket is highly resistant to damage and wash-out, and generally lends a high degree of reliability to a sealed joint and reduces the level of leakage of working fluid into the atmosphere.
