The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a speed-governed motor-assisted hospital bed system configured for controlled transportation of a patient over inclined surfaces such as hospital ramps. The system comprises a patient-supporting bed structure, a rigid structural frame, a plurality of wheels, electrically powered DC geared motors, an electronic controller, motor-driver circuitry, an electrical power supply and encoder-based feedback arrangement. The bed structure is configured to support the patient while the motorized wheels provide propulsion assistance to an attendant during movement. The system comprises a plurality of motorized wheels positioned at the lower portion of the bed structure and coupled to DC geared motors to provide torque-assisted movement. The electrical power supply provides energy to the motor- driving arrangement and electronic control system. The controller regulates the motor operation to provide controlled movement of the bed. Encoder feedback associated with the motors provides information regarding motor rotation and actual movement of the drive arrangement. During operation, an attendant initiates and supervises movement of the bed while the powered wheel arrangement assists in propelling the bed. When the bed is moved over an inclined surface, the motorized arrangement provides additional propulsion torque to reduce the manual effort required by the attendant. The feedback-controlled operation enables the motor speed to be regulated according to the desired operating condition, thereby reducing sudden movement and improving movement stability. The invention integrates the patient- supporting structure, motorized mobility arrangement, electrical power system and electronic control arrangement into a single assistive hospital bed system. The system is particularly configured for controlled movement over inclined surfaces while maintaining human-in-the-loop operation.
