MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096061 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 08, 2026, for Spectral Fabric-Adaptive Ironing Device With Predictivethermal Control.
Inventors include Hitesh Kumar; Mohd Mashruf; and Kushagra Jain.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent fabric treatment system and method configured to provide autonomous fabric identification and adaptive thermal regulation during ironing operations. The system comprises a Near-Infrared (NIR) spectral sensing module integrated within an ironing soleplate for identifying the chemical composition of textile materials, including cotton, silk, wool, polyester, and blended fabrics, irrespective of colour, texture, or lighting conditions. An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) continuously monitors movement parameters including velocity and acceleration, while environmental sensors monitor humidity and temperature conditions. An embedded control unit executes machine-learning-based sensor fusion to dynamically regulate soleplate temperature, heat flux, and steam output according to detected fabric characteristics and operational conditions. The system further calculates a predictive time-to-damage parameter to prevent fabric scorching through proactive thermal adjustment. The closed-loop adaptive architecture improves ironing efficiency, enhances safety, reduces energy consumption, and eliminates manual temperature selection.
