MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126252 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Science on October 23, 2026, for Solid-State Nanopore System For Controlled Molecular Translocation.
Inventors include Dr. Arup Polley; and Kankanampati Ashoka Deepthi.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A solid-state nanopore device (100A, 214) for controlling translocation of a molecule (402) is disclosed. The device comprises a first layer (102) and a second layer (104), each comprising an outer nanopore, and a third layer (106) disposed there between comprising an inner nanopore having a smaller dimension than the outer nanopores. The outer nanopores and the inner nanopore define a translocation channel for the molecule. A first voltage and a second voltage applied to the first layer and the second layer generate opposing electric fields to control translocation of the molecule (402). A third voltage applied to the third layer enables determination of a molecular parameter associated with the molecule (402). A system comprising a voltage regulator (210), a current sensor (212), the nanopore device, and a computing device (202) is further disclosed for characterizing current changes through the inner nanopore as the molecular parameter associated with the molecule (402).
