MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641059535 A) filed by Manakula Vinayagar Institute Of Technology on May 11, 2026, for Solar Drying Device With Bio-Pcm Blends And Power-Free Iot Monitoring.

Inventors include Dr. R. Baghya Nisha; M. Madesh; S. Srivarshini; and K. Thendral.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: SOLAR DRYING DEVICE WITH BIO-PCM BLENDS AND POWER-FREE lOT MONITORING -lhe titled-- invention -discloses a-s-olar -drying-device designed for continuous anacontrolled drying of food materials using solar energy and stored thermal energy. The system includes a solar radiation transmitting cover (1), a heat absorbing surface (2), and an insulated drying chamber (3) with drying trays (4). A thermal energy storage 10 unit (5) containing a bio-hybrid phase change material (6) composed of paraffin wax, coconut oil and palm oil stores heat during peak solar hours and releases it during non-solar periods. A thermochromic film (7) regulates heat entry based on temperature, enabling passive thermal control. Air inlet (8) and air outlet (9) provide airflow for moisture removal. A supporting frame (10) holds the system structure, and 15 a power-free loT monitoring unit (11) enables monitoring without external power. The invention provides a simple, cost-effective and energy-efficient drying solution suitable for rural and small-scale applications.
