MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641076177 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 19, 2026, for Solar-Aware Grid Intelligence System For Electricity Demand Forecasting And Duck Curve Analytics.
Inventors include Vani Rajasekar; Utkarsh Singh; Shikhar Singh; and Shreevishnu.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: A solar-aware grid intelligence system (100) for electricity demand forecasting and grid-condition analytics is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a data acquisition and preprocessing module configured to receive historical electricity demand data, meteorological data, temporal data, and operational data. A solar proxy generation module generates a solar availability proxy from meteorological and temporal variables. A feature engineering module generates weather-derived features, temporal features, solar-proxy-derived features, lag features, and statistical features. A machine-learning forecasting engine processes the generated features to produce electricity demand forecasts. A duck curve morphology tracking module generates a proxy-derived net-load profile and determines morphology parameters comprising Midday Dip Depth, Evening Ramp Steepness, and Duck Curve Shape Score. A forecast confidence modelling module determines forecast uncertainty parameters from forecasting residuals. A weather-conditioned scenario generation module produces probabilistic demand scenarios. An intelligence integration module combines forecasting, morphology, uncertainty, and scenario outputs into a unified analytical framework.
